Ash Wednesday 2016 – 06 – Confessions Forgiven

God’s forgiveness is offered to all who ask for it – not once but many, many times. We have come before God to ask for forgiveness of our sins, for God to tear up our blotted record, for God to give us a clean heart and an open mind.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
a heart which seeks to warship you at every opportunity,
a heart which seeks to recognise you in every person,
a heart which seeks to follow you every day of my life,
a heart which puts you at the centre of my being.

Create in me a clean heart. O God,
and put a new end right spirit within me.

Renew my spirit to work for justice and peace,
renew my spirit to share my gifts and talents freely with others,
renew my spirit to love and live abundantly,
renew my spirit so that I may journey faithfully with you
all the way to the cross.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and put a new and right spirit within me.

Hear then Christ’s word of love:
Your sins are forgiven.
Thanks be to God.
Amen.

We join in the prayer our saviour taught us, saying: OUR FATHER…
